Who We Are
The Gem Project
The GEM Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of pediatric cancer patients by supporting integrative medicine alongside traditional treatments. We believe in a holistic approach to care, addressing the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of those affected by cancer. Through funding, research, education, and partnerships, we work to expand access to alternative therapies, empowering patients with the resources they need to heal, find comfort, and thrive throughout their journey.

Our reason. Our Gem.
Emily Anne Nord was a loving wife, daughter, sister, and friend. In 2021, she was diagnosed with a rare cancer, rhabdomyosarcoma. She pursued the best treatments available, including clinical trials, chemotherapy, and radiation, while also seeking alternative therapies. However, she and her family found it challenging to integrate holistic care into her treatment due to lack of research and resources..

Despite these obstacles, Emily remained dedicated to exploring alternative medicine, not only for its potential benefits in fighting cancer but also for its proven ability to reduce stress. Weekly acupuncture and reiki became a source of comfort in her final months. After two courageous years, Emily passed away on September 15, 2023.

Before she left, she shared a dream with her husband, Mike—to make integrative care more accessible for cancer patients. The GEM Project carries on that mission in her honor. Emily was a light in the world, full of grace, love, and joy. Her mother always called her "the gem," and now, we invite you to join us in brightening the path for others facing cancer.
